Amy Weingarten MSW, LCSW- Executive Director/Founder
Amy Weingarten is currently the Executive Director/Founder of the Emotional Awareness Institute. She has been in the clinical social work field for thirty years. Amy’s expertise spans across all age groups, socioeconomic backgrounds along with numerous institutions. Her creativity and innovation has produced numerous successful programs throughout her career. Amy has been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker since 1990. She graduated with her MSW from Hunter College School of Social Work in 1983. She is excellent at networking and has numerous contacts within government agencies as well as the private sector. Amy's passion is creating and implementing programs that matter. Her InnerView program is the basis for our Life Stories programs . She is also passionate about story and history that is passed down from one generation to the next. Amy has extensive training experience that has supported her program development and design.

Joshua Weingarten has seven years in property tax finance. He recently graduated from Berkley Law School with his juris doctor.
Lisa Arieta Hayes - Secretary
Lisa Arieta-Hayes, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW,1990) and earned, a Bachelors (BSW, 1983) and Master in Social Work (MSW, 1996) and a Doctor of Education (Ed.D, 2002). Dr. Arieta-Hayes attended San Jose State University and the University of San Francisco where she completed her dissertation on the Experience of Latina Teens in the Criminal Justice System. Her professional experience has been vast, from providing direct services in out-patient clinics, group homes, residential care and hospital based treatment facilities, as an educator with the School of Social Work at San Jose State University since 1995. Currently Dr. Arieta-Hayes is the Clinical Director of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Kaiser San Jose. Dr. Arieta-Hayes is a member of the Latino Social Workers Network, National Association of Social Workers and California Teacher’s Association. She is a Group Home Administrator, Certified Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Trainer and a Certified ProAct Trainer and has taught hundreds of training courses and presented at numerous local, state and national conferences. In addition, she is a trainer for the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (O.J.J.D.P.) and has provided training for city, county and state organizations. In 2007, her professional expertise led her to be included in the Who’s Who in Executive Non-Profit Management and was named Social Worker of the year in 2014 for Santa Clara County.

Nebi Alemu - Board Member
Nebi Alemu has more than 20 years’ history of professional management experience in media, technology and transportation companies. He currently serves as a consultant to the Stanford Institute for Innovation in Developing Economies (SEED) and works as senior consultant at Robinson Communications. His deep experience in political and grassroots community organizing, ethnic outreach, public speaking, diversity training, and advocacy serves a variety of international and domestic organizations, where he has completed successful engagements in both the private and nonprofit sectors. He is also the principal organizer of community-based operations for the election campaigns of candidates for local, state and national offices. Nebi earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from University of Phoenix and holds a higher business education certificate from Stanford University.
